See, refrigerant is the substance within your air conditioner that makes the entire cooling process possible. This is because it is the “heat transfer medium” that absorbs the heat that is in the air in your home and pulls it outside allowing cooler air to be blown back into the house.

Refrigerant is vital to your AC and without it, the system really isn’t going to offer much other than air circulation. So it should come as no surprise that you should be concerned about losing refrigerant from your air conditioner.

5 Signs You Need AC Repairs Now

Monday, September 23rd, 2019

vent-register-on-wallLet’s face it: the fall season does not mean your air conditioner will be turning off anytime soon. Florida tends to enjoy keeping the climate warm and humid year-round, which is why your cooling system sees a lot more action than your heating system.

Because your AC tends to take on more work, it also sustains more wear and tear. Especially with the risk of thunderstorms and continued high heat on the horizon, you will want to make sure that your equipment is in peak working order, keeping your home dry and cool.

Before your air conditioner gives out when you need it the most, you should determine if it might be time for a repair.

3 Common Cooling Issues You May Encounter This Summer

Monday, March 14th, 2016

In an ideal world, you’ll never run into any issues using your cooling system. However, even well-maintained air conditioners need regular maintenance and occasional repairs. Hopefully you don’t face any detrimental issues this summer. However, read on for 3 common cooling issues you might encounter, to help you prepare if you find yourself needing repairs.

1. Your Unit Doesn’t Turn On

There are a couple different factors that may be at play here. Your first instinct may be to call for repairs, and we’ll be happy to help. However, first you should check to see that your thermostat is set in the “cooling” position, and that your system is receiving power. Though these may seem obvious, the fact is that with multiple occupants in the home, settings can get adjusted without your knowing. Of course if your system is still having electrical problems after you’ve checked this, you’ll need the assistance of an experienced HVAC technician.

2. Your Unit Blows Warm Air

Dirty filters are a very common culprit for warm air. It’s not that your AC isn’t producing cold air, but that the cooler air can’t flow through the ductwork properly. Clean air filters will not only help this, it protects the inside components of your AC and helps it perform properly. You should also make sure that the outside unit is running, and that there are no leaves, dirt, or other debris obstructing airflow. One last thing that may be causing warm air to flow through your system is insufficient refrigerant, which a licensed HVAC professional will need to replenish for you.

3. Your Unit Cycles Frequently or Will Not Turn Off

If your AC unit is too large for your home, it will go through a process called short-cycling. This is when it shuts off and on rapidly. This rapid cycling can also occur if an air handler is blowing cool air directly onto the thermostat. On the contrary, if your system won’t cycle off, the unit may be too small for your home. It could also be due to low refrigerant levels or a faulty relay switch. Either of these would need to be repaired by a professional.
